It is strictly for higher class of the society. Among the  women folk, it is the type of hair do they use to distinguish which class one belongs to.

This precious material is gotten from thousands of women in India who scrape their hair as a sacrifice in Hindu temple across the country. This annual festival draw Hindu women faithful across the globe to India.

In the temple hundreds of men are lined up with the duty to scrape the hair of any worshiper that came for the sacrifice. As this is going on, a huge quantity of hair are pilled up.

Different companies agents across the globe come to the temple to buy the hair which they take their factory for processing. It very expensive, that people in the business refer it as Black Gold.
