See what Owners of Nokia Company said was responsible for Collapse of Nokia
Take for instance in Nigeria , an average phone user in early year 2000 when mobile phone first came to Nigeria must have used one Nokia brand.
But one thing that has kept me wondering is, WHAT HAPPENED TO ALMIGHTY NOKIA. After the sales boom in early year 2000. The company made billions of dollars. And failed to plan for tomorrow. They forgot that one thing that is constant in life is change.
Between year 2010 during the advent of Smart phones, Nokia failed to take advantage of their market size.
Some many other phone makers like Samsung, Tecno, Apple and others seized the opportunity and over took Nokia. Though Nokia tried to meet them, but the company was confused at time. By the time they are realizing what is happening it was too late for them.
What went wrong with Nokia?
Many have attributed to poor management of the company by the owners.
Below are extract from speech of one of Nokia executives during the hand over of Nokia company to Microsoft that acquired it. It was an emotional speech.
During the press conference to announce NOKIA being acquired by Microsoft, Nokia CEO ended his speech saying this “we didn’t do anything wrong, but somehow, we lost”. Upon saying that, all his management team, himself included, teared sadly.
Nokia has been a respectable company. They didn’t do anything wrong in their business, however, the world changed too fast. Their opponents were too powerful.
They missed out on learning, they missed out on changing, and thus they lost the opportunity at hand to make it big. Not only did they miss the opportunity to earn big money, they lost their chance of survival.
The message of this story is, if you don’t change, you shall be removed from the competition.
It’s not wrong if you don’t want to learn new things. However, if your thoughts and mindset cannot catch up with time, you will be eliminated.
Conclusion:
The advantage you have yesterday, will be replaced by the trends of tomorrow. You don’t have to do anything wrong, as long as your competitors catch the wave and do it RIGHT, you can lose out and fail.
To change and improve yourself is giving yourself a second chance. To be forced by others to change, is like being discarded.
Those who refuse to learn & improve, will definitely one day become redundant & not relevant to the industry. They will learn the lesson in a hard & expensive way.

See How Patience Jonathan Made the Controversial $15million
She claimed that the money was made from savings she made for over 15 years.
According to News Agency of Nigeria,
Dame Jonathan, wife of former Nigerian President has explained in graphic details how she accumulated in 15 years $15million in several bank accounts linked to her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The explanation was given in court papers filed by a group that has sued Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) on her behalf. SERAP had filed a suit in court to compel the attorney-general of the Federation to take a legal action against Mrs. Jonathan.
Union of Niger Delta Youth Organisation for Equity, Justice and Good Governance suing for themselves and on behalf of Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan filed a suit number FHC/L/CS/1349/2016 before a Federal High Court in Lagos, alleging “campaign of calumny by SERAP against her.
“The funds in question were legitimate gifts from her friends and well-wishers over the last 15 years which she had been saving in order to utilize to upgrade family businesses and concerns which had been somewhat dormant by reason of the long period of her husband service as a public officer in Nigeria.
“The gifts were given in small contributions by several persons some of whom she cannot even now recall over this period of 15 years sometimes in as small a gift as N250,000 Naira. In order to preserve the value of these funds which she did not require for any purpose at the time she changed them into foreign exchange and kept them as cash for a long period in her home safe in Port Harcourt and Abuja.
“It was when the family home in Otuoke was burnt down by hoodlums under the instigation of political adversaries in 2010 that she began to think about banking these gifts which had now grown to large sums in United States Dollars. In 2010 she therefore summoned one of her husband’s domestic aides, Waripamo-Owei Emmanuel Dudafa to assist her in opening bank accounts into which the funds could be deposited.”
“Unknown to her the said Dudafa in a bid to be discreet about the owner of the funds decided to bank the funds in the names of companies owned by him. When she discovered this she was constrained to continue with the names of the companies when she was advised that it did not make any difference as to the ownership of the funds since the director of the company would appoint her as sole signatory to the accounts in question.”
“When in 2016 Dudafa was arrested and detained she had no fear for the funds as she realized that the funds could not be attributable to him once it was discovered that she was the sole signatory to the said accounts. It was therefore a rude shock to her when she discovered that a no transaction order had been placed on the accounts by the EFCC in the belief that the funds belonged to Dudafa.
“She instructed her solicitors to further write to the EFCC to inform them that the funds belong to her and that they formed a part of her legitimate earnings over the last 15 years. It was this letter that was leaked by the EFCC to the media that became sensationalised and led to the plaintiff’s vilification and attack by ignorant persons who had no information about the matter.”
“SERAP is playing to the public gallery in order to gain the notoriety it has achieved over the past years. SERAP has done this mostly by intervening in high profile issues without regard to the rights of persons it claims to protect. SERAP jumped into the fray of ignorant accusations being made against Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan in the public media and has begun a campaign of calumny against her using online, print and electronic media to publish to the public unfounded and malicious allegations that she stole the funds in question and ought to be prosecuted.”
The suit accuses SERAP of using online, print and electronic media to publish to the public unfounded and malicious allegations that she stole $15m (US) and ought to be prosecuted.
SERAP executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni said the organisation received Patience Jonathan’s court papers dated 6 October 2016 from a bailiff on Tuesday
“The court papers also indicate a prayer for an order of interim injunction restraining SERAP from taking any further steps in further vilification, condemnation and conviction of the Former First Lady Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan, in all public media and in the use of the judicial process for that purpose by the extremely publicised pursuit of any application for the coercion of the Attorney General of the Federation to prosecute the Plaintiff/Applicant for owning legitimate private property, pending the hearing and determination of the Originating Summons.”
“The suit is seeking an order directing SERAP to stay all action and to desist forthwith from proceeding against Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan, with any process whatsoever, pending the hearing and determination of the Originating Summons.
Mumuni said, “SERAP categorically rejects these misleading and entirely unfounded accusations against us by Mrs Patience Jonathan and her group, and we will vigorously oppose the suit in court. SERAP will never, in the discharge of its mandates, succumb to any intimidation, harassment and attacks in any way, shape or form. We are now consulting with our lawyers and will be preparing shortly our defence in court.”
“At no time did SERAP suggest or even hint that Mrs Jonathan was guilty of the allegations against her. On the contrary, what SERAP has said is that the fact that the $15m found in the four accounts belong to Mrs Jonathan raises serious suspicion or at the very least a prima-facie case of unexplained wealth/illicit enrichment, and imposes an obligation on Mrs Jonathan to explain and justify the source(s) of the $15m.”
“To be sure, SERAP is not engaged in any campaign against Mrs Jonathan or any other politically exposed persons for that matter. Our suit was filed against the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr Abubakar Malami, SAN, and not Mrs Jonathan. It’s a joke to accuse SERAP of trying to coerce the Attorney General to perform his constitutional duty, as this is for the court to decide.”

Health Dangers of Drinking Cold Water
Our body composition is made up 70 percent water. We can survive for days without food but not water. Water is an essential part of our survival. Even the earth is said to be also 70 percent water.
What ideal temperature of water is healthy for our body? Though depending on what purpose water is taken, the ideal temperature is room Temperature (30 degrees centigrade). Any thing below or above this, is considered cold or warm water respectively.
Let us look at side effects of drinking cold water.
1. Slow down Digestion
Drinking ice water or cold water hampers the process of digesting food as it causes your blood vessels to shrink. This can slow down the process of digestion and as the food is not digested properly, the nutrients are lost or not absorbed by the body.
2. May Lead To sore Throat
Drinking cold water can cause the buildup of respiratory mucosa, which is a protective layer of the respiratory tract. When this layer gets congested, the respiratory tract is exposed and becomes vulnerable to various infections and hence the chances of your throat turning sore are high.
3. Shortage Of Nutrients
The body’s temperature is 37o C and when you drink something at a very low temperature, your body has to spend energy to regulate its temperature. This spent energy is otherwise used to digest food and absorb nutrients, thereby leaving your body short of nutrition.
4. Decreases your heart rate:
Drinking ice water or cold water decreases your heart rate. Studies have shown that drinking ice water stimulates the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is the 10th cranial nerve and is an important part of the body’s autonomous nervous system that controls involuntary actions of the body. The vagus nerve mediates the lowering of the heart rate and the low temperatures of ice cold water act as a stimulus to the nerve which causes the heart rate to drop.
In conclusion, our body is made of fat. To understand what cold water does to our body, pour a glass of cold water to a puck meat. The result will amaze you.
NUC Scraps Pre-degree(pre-science) and Diploma Programs in Universities in Nigeria
The National Universities Commission, NUC, has scrapped sub-degree diploma programmes in the country’s university system, its Executive Secretary, Abubakar Adamu, said on Monday.
Mr. Adamu said universities currently running the programmes have been directed to begin to wind down immediately.
The NUC scribe, who was speaking at the end of a meeting with vice chancellors of federal, state and private universities, also disclosed the plan for a comprehensive review of the university curricula to set the benchmark minimum academic standards.
Besides, he said, a new ranking of Nigerian universities would be released next year, while accreditation of programmes would be conducted in May and November, and resource verification in March, July and December every year.
The meeting also resolved to restart institutional accreditation of part-time programmes and resumption of the Nigerian University System Annual Review Meeting (USARM) as well as consider accreditation of academic programmes by professional bodies.
Equally, shortfalls in personnel emoluments and incorporation of universities into the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information Systems (IPPIS) and matters arising from the 2009 agreement between the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) were discussed, he said.
Apart from governance structure and university education component of the Ministerial Action Plan, the meeting urged all universities to develop and implement an institutional research policy and a research administration directorate to co-ordinate research activities in universities.
An appropriate human and material resources are to be provided to run an Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer (OIPTT) or Office of Technology Commercialization and Industry Relations (OTCIR).
Mr. Musa said the meeting was aimed at repositioning the NUC to work more closely with the universities for effective quality service delivery, as they render teaching, research and community service.
He explained that the scrapping of university diplomas followed findings that running such programmes was not the business of universities, rather Polytechnics.
“The Federal Government, as far back as November, 2001, had issued a circular stating that such diplomas could not be used for employment or promotion purposes in the Public Service,” he said.
Rather than stretch their facilities to run sub-degree programmes, he said universities should direct their energies towards their primary function of producing high level manpower for the economy, by strengthening their part-time programmes, to offer high quality undergraduate degrees and postgraduate diplomas and degrees.
On review of the university curricula, he said the NUC would engage a mix of old, experienced, and young vibrant academics to come up with curricula that would not only be dynamic and responsive to national needs, but also conform to global trends.
Contrary to criticisms of Nigerian universities’ poor performance in global ranking, he said the managers of the universities were satisfied with the quality of their degrees and graduates.
“Most of our graduates are qualitative and they can hold their own anywhere. Our students from good universities, who make First Class, 2nd Class Upper, and even good 2nd Class Lower, go abroad for their Masters and come back with distinctions and merits” he said.
On university ranking, the NUC Scribe dissociated the Commission from any ranking of Nigerian universities in the media, saying it had not embarked on any such exercise in the last 15 years.
Part of Aisha Buhari BBC Interview That You Did Not Know BY Jaafar-Premium Times
Part of Aisha Buhari BBC Interview That You Did Not Know BY Jaafar-Premium Times
As the heat of the intense pressure mounted on the BBC to stop the airing of the remaining part of the controversial Aisha Buhari interview a few days ago, I had the privilege of listening to the interview before it was fully aired.
My good friend, the Head of the Abuja bureau of the BBC, Naziru Mikailu, invited me to his office to comment on the interview, and directed that it be played to me before the recording of my comment.
Listening to the president’s wife passionately expressing herself on how her husband runs Nigeria left me cringing. Reading between the lines, I realised Mrs. Buhari was sending an SOS to Nigerians to save her bewitched, servile husband from the clutches of the Aso Rock witches, popularly known as the “Aso cabal”.
The Buhari I knew before the last presidential election was not the obtuse person we have today as president. The Buhari I promoted during the campaign had no nepotistic, despotic or tele-guided tendencies. The Buhari I voted for was not this pliable. Forgive me if my knowledge of him was superficial.
Aisha Buhari might have pitched the nation a curve ball, but her interview is actually a deafening echo of what we’ve been saying for ages about her husband. When I first raised alarm on the dangers of the influence of the numero uno of the cabal, Mamman Daura, on the Buhari administration barely three weeks after the president took the oath of office, I received all manners of insults and invectives. Today a lot of my predictions have come to reality.
But if actually the Mamman Daura cabal is the one running this country, then it appears to be a very unintelligent lot whose mastery does not go beyond the art of nepotism and crafts of plagiarism.
This cabal has kept both the nation and the president under spell, leaving the economy to slide into recession, our currency to crash beyond salvation and impunity to reign supreme. This cabal has suffocated a mega political party that Nigerians from all regions laboured and united to build.
From the appointment of ministers to heads of agencies, there are either portfolio misplacements or the elevation of disturbing cronyism and incompetence by this cabal, which started from the outset of the present administration.
It always saddens me to realise that our president has been turned into a puppet, managed by some half-witted puppeteers, who are mainly adept at turning his feet toward Europe, America and Asia; stretching his hand in perpetuation of nepotism or opening his mouth to goof.
foraminifera
From the appointment of ministers to heads of agencies, there are either portfolio misplacements or the elevation of disturbing cronyism and incompetence by this cabal, which started from the outset of the present administration. This same cabal gave plum appointments to progenies of the famous Kaduna mafia members, some of who even served the immediate-past administration or openly campaigned for the PDP.
A leading member of the cabal, who is the present Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari, was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan as a member of the Ribadu-led Petroleum Revenue Task Force in 2012. A year earlier, Kyari had turned down Buhari’s offer to serve as the secretary of one of the CPC presidential campaign committees – perhaps because Buhari had little chance of winning.
Take the case of the Sokoto ministerial nominee, for instance. Any loyal party man will not be happy to see the daughter of Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, the late Kaduna mafia member, Aisha Abubakar, appointed minister from Sokoto State. Aisha openly campaigned for the PDP governorship candidate in Sokoto, and her brother, Aminu Abubakar Alhaji, who unsuccessfully vied for the Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency ticket on the platform of PDP.
Again, no one who wishes the APC well will be happy to see Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, the daughter of another Kaduna mafia member, Yahaya Hamza, appointed minister from Kaduna State. Zainab headed NEITI under Jonathan and contributed to the PDP during election.
Any card carrying member of the APC will be saddened to see Mohammed Bello, the son of Mamman Daura’s friend, Musa Bello, appointed minister from Adamawa State. Mohammed Bello headed the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria under Jonathan but was given the plum FCT ministry by the Aso cabal. I believe if he had gone against PDP, he would have been removed immediately after Jonathan lost the election.
But consider how the cabal dumped loyal party members in Enugu like Osita Okechukwu to appoint Geoffrey Enyeama, who had hitherto never met Buhari nor worked for the APC, as minister of Foreign Affairs.
One basic fact a lot of fanatical supporters of Buhari forget is that he rode on the saddle of a political party to power. The fortunes of the party are diminishing and those who laboured to build the party and ensured the emergence of Buhari as candidate have been relegated, while political ambulance chasers take the centre stage.
Or, will any APC politician be happy with Senator Ita Enang, a top Jonathan campaigner, as Senior Special Assistant to the president on the National Assembly (Senate), or Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, also a top Jonathan campaigner, as chairman of the almighty Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), while loyal party men like Senator Magnus Abe were kicked backstage. Senator Abe was even shot by the police during the election in Rivers.
Aisha Buhari might have been wondering where loyal Buhari campaigners were, like Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, Faruq Adamu Aliyu, Dele Alake, Barrister Ismail Ahmed, Architect Waziri Bulama, Yusuf Tuga, Yakubu Lame, Dr. Hassan Lawan, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Umaru Dembo, Ubale Hashim, Umar Dangiwa, among others.
The president’s wife and party supporters will also be incensed to see appointees of the past government still heading a number of agencies and departments. The cabal should know that party men are piqued that the 12 agencies of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources are still headed by the appointees of the past government, as well as a minister, Engr. Sulaiman Adamu, appointed not for his political contributions to the success of Buhari, but due to close family ties.
Now take a cursory look at the re-appointment of Umaru Ibrahim as managing director of NDIC. Ibrahim was appointed in December 2010 by Jonathan but was reappointed by Buhari to serve another five years, as if there are no competent persons for such within the party fold. One still wonders why the Director-General of PenCom, Mrs Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, is retained despite the fact that her appointment was initially done in violation of the law. Does Buhari think his party is happy that Malam Sani Sidi, a protege of former Vice President Namadi Sambo, is still the head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)?
Whoever wishes the president and APC well must feel strongly about this. As someone who stood by her husband during the election, Aisha Buhari has the right to complain when certain forces take over her husband or when things go wrong in the party. I still believe she loves her husband more than those who are insulting or mocking her. She is still the best authority on the president’s mental and socio-physical state.
APC’s growth is inorganic, and so needs some therapy to strengthen it’s fragility.
There is concern about the political future of Buhari and APC. As it stands today, barring any miracle, Buhari could either be the first incumbent Nigerian president to lose a party ticket at the primaries or the second president to lose re-election in Nigeria’s political history.
